As a locally owned and managed company founded in Lowell, Massachusetts, Heritage Properties is no stranger to the changing seasons! With spring just a few short weeks away, we’re gearing up for another season of operations and are working diligently behind the scenes to make sure our portfolio is in top shape. Committed to putting people first, here are some of the ways we’re preparing for spring and ensuring the safety and comfort of our residents across New England.
Although it’s wouldn’t be spring in New England without an unexpected snowstorm, eventually the snow will finally melt for good! Thawing snow, ice, and subsequent mud requires attention, and our maintenance team plays a key role in monitoring conditions onsite. As snow and ice melt, puddles and debris can create uneven surfaces – from parking lots to entranceways. The Heritage team will assess and repair any areas that have been impacted by winter weather – including property exteriors that may need repainting or power washing.
Plus, with April showers on their way next month, checking that gutters are clear and functioning properly is on our list. Last but not least, spring also brings new growth - and the Heritage team is busy getting ready for landscaping season! As the weather warms, we’ll be trimming overgrown brush and bushes, replanting flowers, touching up signage and outdoor common spaces, and overall refreshing the grounds at each property to create an inviting environment across our portfolio.
As we work through our checklist, we’re also thinking about the ways our residents can welcome in the new season:
On warmer days, consider opening your windows for a couple of hours to circulate fresh air around your apartment
Wipe down surfaces to help clear out any winter buildup on appliances, countertops, and storage areas
Dust off vents and, if needed, check in with our team to replace filters ahead of the A/C season
If you have a balcony or patio, sweep away debris, clean out planters, and prep any outdoor furniture
Double-check that you have an umbrella stashed somewhere near your front door (and, if applicable, in your car!) for spring showers
Be sure to keep an eye on local weather forecasts to plan ahead for upcoming travel or local activities – spring can be unpredictable!
